Persecution of Early Saints

This small window is presented to remind us of the persecution that early Christians underwent for their bold faith in Jesus Christ as Lord. The upside down cross reminds us of the eventual crucifixion of Peter. At execution Peter chose to be crucified upside down feeling that he was unworthy to die the same death as Jesus himself. History tells how through many countries the early disciples of Jesus were jailed, beaten, and in many different ways even put to death for their belief. Jesus warned that such things would come because following Christ demands leaving behind the ways of the world and living a different life (2 Corinthians 6:14). But again through the power of the Holy Spirit, these persecutions did not extinguish the church, but instead caused the faith of those who believed to grow deeper. The persecution of those who believe the words of Jesus has still not ended today. In many countries around the world Christians are still jailed, beaten, and even killed for their faith in Jesus Christ – and yet Christianity is not blotted out.
The members of Grace Baptist Church earnestly hope that you will turn away from your sins and accept the forgiveness that is extended to you by Jesus. May you believe in Jesus today so that you might have peace with God.
If you would like to know more about what it means to accept Jesus as your Savior from sin please contact our church office.
