Resurrection

This window portrays the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. The resurrection is the second half of the triumph of the cross. It is of utmost importance to the message of the Bible that Jesus did not remain dead, but was raised from the dead by the power of God. The Bible teaches that after remaining in the grave for three days, Jesus came back to life—not in a spiritual sense but in reality! In this Jesus is the only person who has ever died, and of their own power, returned from the dead. And all this happened just as Jesus foretold that it would. In the last book of the Bible (Revelation 1:18 ) Jesus declares that since He has risen from the dead He now holds the “keys to death and Hades.” This means that Jesus now holds authority over death since He has overcome it, and the joyous message of the Bible is that Jesus stands ready to give eternal life to all who will turn from their sins and believe in Him. The Bible presents death as an enemy and an evil which has been overcome by Jesus. Those who trust in Jesus as Lord have no more reason to fear death, for they have been given eternal life.
